Building a Relationship From the Ground Up

Building a Relationship From the Ground Up

Building a Relationship From the Ground Up
By Deb Allen

When you meet someone that you are interested in you begin taking steps to move the relationship forward. If you jump forward too quickly you will miss out on essential steps that will help you build a solid foundation for your relationship. The essence of building from the ground up is forming a real friendship first.

I suggest that you explore what the two of you have in common. By sharing activities and interests you will find lots to talk about. In addition, you will be building memories. This is important because memories add to the things that you will treasure about the relationship.

If you find that you have little in common do not despair. With a strong friendship and love for one another you can easily find a common interest. It is great if you can find an interest that requires a real involvement. But it could be that you both enjoy time on the computer or you like to read.

Such interests appear to be solo activities but you can find ways to enjoy those activities together. Go book shopping together. There are wonderful bookstores that have comfortable chairs and deli shops. You could spend time at such a store on a regular basis.

With laptops you can spend time together on the computer practically anywhere. Another option might be going to a coffee shop that offers computer connection or even spending time at the library together. You definitely need to build on whatever interests you have in common, use that as a way to deepen your bonds.

Long-term activities are a great way to promote your relationship. Consider taking a class together or planning a trip. This will result in memories and fun times. Memories are going to become a cherished part of the relationship. In years to come you will enjoy discussing those times.

Honesty is of course an essential element of a great relationship. It is important to be open with your partner. Let them get to know the person inside of you. For some people this is a difficult task but it is helpful to your partner if they are allowed inside any walls you have around yourself.

As far as honesty goes it is important that you are honest about what you want or need from the relationship. Not everyone wants or expects the same thing. You may find that the two of you want different things from the relationship. For instance, it is possible that one of you desperately wants to have children as soon as possible. Maybe the other person does not want any children, ever.

It is possible to work things out; one partner may change their mind over time. But it might be that you simply agree that you have different goals in life and you will make better friends than a couple. Discussing your dreams and goals early in the relationship will be an advantage. In all likelihood you will find that you have a lot of common goals. This is great because you can plan and work toward them together. And you guessed it that will add to your friendship as well as strengthen your bonds.

By building your relationship from the ground up you will find that it is strong and will endure any problems or situations that arise. Great relationships require work but the work is integrated as fun. Strive to keep both you and your partner happy. Compromise when necessary and set ground rules that you both agree to related to your relationship.

A relationship built on love, friendship, and respect will usually last a lifetime. Put effort into creating a great relationship, build wonderful memories and be grateful for the wonderful blessing you are receiving.

Make your relationship the best it can be - whether it's just beginning, it's long-term or you are getting back with an ex you can strengthen your bonds - find out how, view videos and get a FREE report about relationships at: http://magicalmakeups.blogspot.com/
